Financial accountants are specially trained individuals with the skills to take the accounting data of an organization and generate reports on financial performance. Among the duties that are usually conducted by financial accountants are preparing profit and loss statements, cash flow statements, and balance sheets which depending on the needs of the organization, can be generated at regular time periods. The value and purpose of such reporting and analysis is to establish a basis on which to judge the financial performance of an organization. The information compiled by financial accountants is commonly used by, banks, stock holders, and other interested parties outside the daily management of the organization to make informed business decisions about investment, risk, profitability, and other economic considerations.
In order to complete the task of measuring the financial performance of an organization, a financial accountant prepares reports in accordance with the set of industry guidelines called the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, or GAAP. GAAP guidelines provide uniform standards of fairness and truthfulness in the accounting industry to help ensure that accounting professionals provide reports and analyses that accurately depict the financial performance of an organization. Through their skills and adherence to industry standards, accountants help determine whether resources are used efficiently and whether an organization is achieving its financial goals.
These important skills, however, are cultivated through education and in meeting the necessary qualifications to practice financial accounting.
An individual intending to pursue a career in financial accounting has a number of qualifications to meet before being able to practice in this profession. The two major qualifications include earning a degree through formal education in accounting and then passing the certification exam to obtain a license as a Certified Public Accountant, or CPA.
An aspiring financial accountant generally can pursue an education in this field in two ways, depending on individual career aspirations. First, an individual can decide to earn an associate's degree at a junior or community college. In terms of employment possibilities, an associate's degree, for example, will allow a graduate to obtain entry level bookkeeping positions. This option allows certain individuals to work in the accounting field and then work towards a bachelor's degree outside of work hours. However, while an individual holds an associate's degree, he or she is not eligible to take the certification exam to be a Certified Public Accountant since certification requires at minimum a bachelor's degree. As a result, most aspiring financial accountants choose to pursue a more direct route and earn a bachelor's degree in Accounting.
Lastly, in addition to formal university education, individuals wishing to obtain a CPA certification can find information with their state's Board of Accountancy. Each state Board of Accountancy will list the testing fees and the requirements needed of each CPA candidate in order to successfully apply and complete the certification process. It is important to note that CPA candidates are required to have completed a certain amount of semester hours in upper division business and accounting courses commonly alongside an approved ethics course.

The financial world is full of opportunities, and some of the people working there are more qualified than others. Specifically, the accounting industry is one where people can work in a number of different job functions. Some folks in accounting work as a general accountant for the public. Some do the same thing for companies. Others try to make it as a forensic accountant , and that requires a much different skill set if you want to have any long term success. But what exactly do you have to do and what do you have to know if you want to be a good forensic accountant? What are these guys all about?
Undergraduate accounting degrees
Many of the skilled individuals who work in this field have degrees from some of the best universities in the world. For the most part, it takes a general finance background in order to do well in the field. Most people will go through a general accounting program at some college, and they will take some specialized classes while doing that. At just about every accredited university in the United States, the accounting program will have a few offerings in forensic accounting. It requires a different approach than standard accounting, and it's something that you must have at least some educational background in.
Graduate degrees with some specialization
Many of people who do well in the field of forensic accounting have some sort of graduate degree. There are a few universities around the country that offer a specialized masters degree in forensic accounting, and these graduates come out of their program ready to make a contribution. Most of these people will spend their time in undergrad studying accounting, and they will use the graduate education to work on the finer points of forensic accounting. That would generally make them work more on the investigative side of things, since a bachelors degree provides a nice starting point for the world of dedicated accounting.
Experience before entering forensic accounting
At most of the big accounting firms, first year employees are not ready to work in the fast paced world of forensic accounting. This is true of those who have done well in their college accounting program. They will typically have to work for a year in regular accounting while they gain experience for the future. After completing a year at some of these companies, accountants will be able to switch into forensic accounting if they are good at that sort of thing. Firms take this very seriously and they only have highly qualified individuals working in their forensic departments. Because of the high stakes nature of their work, mistakes are not allowed.

If you were to take a look at the roster at any of the major accounting firms, you would find quite a few highly qualified people who get the job done in a big way. They have to put in the time and they have to get the education in order to even be considered for a position in forensic accounting.

Why is it that some affilaites require you to fill out a W8-BEN form to be paid whereelse others don't. Is it regualr procedure for this to be done. And what are the risk of filling out a W8-BEN form?



Also what are some good incentive CPA networks that do not require you to fill out a W8-BEN form I find it too troublesome and too much of a liability.

Hello everyone, I haven't used paypal for over a few months and when I recieved a few payments on my premier account, there was a fee. I read the PayPal fee description and it said everytime you receive a payment it have a small transaction fee of 1.9% + .30, is this true? I would like to know if you guys have the same problem.
